Marconi gave us the Voice to connect the world :

The year was 1901, on the rugged coast of Newfoundland. Guglielmo Marconi stood shivering in the cold, pressing a headphone to his ear. Everyone told him he was mad—that the curve of the Earth would block any signal. But Marconi believed in the invisible. Suddenly, through the static of the Atlantic, a faint click-click-click arrived from England. He had conquered the horizon.

Einstein gave us the Vision to see the unseen :

Far away in a Swiss patent office, a young Albert Einstein stared at a clock tower. He wasn’t thinking of wires; he was thinking of light. “What if I rode a beam of light?” he wondered. While the world saw a rigid universe, Einstein saw a fabric of space and time that bent like silk. He realized that imagination was more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited, but imagination circles the world.

Edison gave us the Light to work through the Night :

Across the ocean in New Jersey, Thomas Edison sat amidst a thousand shattered glass bulbs. An assistant sighed, “It’s a shame we’ve failed 1,000 times.” Edison smiled, his eyes bright with a different kind of light. “I haven’t failed,” he said. “I’ve just found 1,000 ways that won’t work.” He knew that genius was 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. By the next morning, the darkness of the human night was banished forever by the glow of the first steady incandescent bulb.

Kalam gave us the Wings to reach for the stars:

Decades later, in the heat of southern India, a young boy named Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam stood on the shores of Rameswaram, watching seagulls catch the wind. He was the son of a boatowner, possessing nothing but a dream to fly. He carried the persistence of Edison and the vision of Einstein. Years later, as he watched a rocket he helped build pierce the clouds, he remembered those seagulls. He realized that “Dreams are not those which come while we are sleeping, but dreams are those when you don’t sleep before fulfilling them.”
